The Ideal Morning Routine

When we think of mornings, we think of staying in bed shutting all alarms off and sleeping for a couple of more hours. Instead, we keep hitting the snooze button just to jump out of bed frantically while trying to get ready as quick as possible. I definitely don't want to continue my mornings like this!

Having a set morning routine is highly imperative because it ensures that the rest of your day will run smoothly. How you start off in the morning is going to set the tone for how the rest of your day will go. Don't you want to have more control over your day? Better yet, don't you want to have a stabilized day? Me too! The real question is where can I sign up?!

The Ideal Morning Routine

Get enough sleep.

As a person, you are required to get 8 hours of sleep. Now, do we all get 8 hours of sleep? No, but we need to! This helps our bodies recharge and ready to tackle the next day. Some of us tend to think if we get 5-6 hours of sleep, we're okay. Truth is, you'll end up burning out a lot quicker. A cup of coffee will only go so far with a few hours of sleep, you will crash!

Stop snoozing your alarm!

Instead of repeatedly snoozing your alarm, hop straight out of bed on your first alarm and let some light in.

Stretch.

Stretching in the morning is good for you because it helps circulation and increases flexibility in your muscles and joints.

Don't hop straight on your phone.

I, for one, love watching morning routine videos on YouTube. Something that I always notice while watching them is that they would check their phones when they first wake up. Don't get me wrong, I do it too! Though I love seeing what notifications awaits me, I shouldn't be hopping on my phone first thing in the morning... none of us should! You have to wait until your eyes adjust from hours of being shut before you check your phone because that LED light could be pretty damaging.

Get some water in your body!

To all my coffee lovers, this may sound heartbreaking because I'm sure you would rather have your coffee fix when you first get up, however, you should get some water in your body when you first rise out of bed. This gets your body going.

Make your bed.

I put this before brushing your teeth and doing your skincare routine simply because you'll get that urge to jump back into bed. When your bed is made, you're not going to want to mess it back up. Also, nothing looks better than a neatly made bed in the morning (next to some good ole breakfast).

Brush your teeth and do your skincare.

Make your way into the bathroom to get rid of that morning breath and cleaning last nights residue off your face! This is one of my favorite parts because of the fact that it just wakes me right up. You can't start your day with some funky breath.

Meditate.

If you want to clear your mind before handling tasks for the day, meditating will help you do just that! Apps like Calm and Headspace are great for when you need guidance while meditating. Not only does meditating helps you quiet your mind, but it also helps you gain clarity.

Every morning that I wake up and meditate, it has me feeling like I'm at an all-time high. It gives me this rush of positive energy. Believe it or not, that rush stays there for almost the entire day!

If you feel like you can't dedicate yourself to a full meditation session, take one minute (literally) to just take deep breaths and focus on your breaths.

Journal what you're thankful for.

From the little things to the big ones, you should be appreciating them all. Am I right? Always journal what you're thankful for every morning. This could just add a piece of positivity to your day plus the universe is always listening.

Just take the time to appreciate the things all around you!

Say some affirmations.

Affirmations are a great way to manifest some things you want in your life. Say your affirmations daily!

Make your to-do list!

Making a to-do list just reminds you of the tasks you have to get done for the day or the entire week. You'll always be one step ahead when you make your list. Don't leave this out of your morning routine.

Have coffee and read your favorite book.

I know you were reading this thinking "when will I get to have my coffee?" I couldn't leave that out even if I tried! I think reading a book while having your morning coffee just makes a great pair. You can even have tea if you don't do coffee. If you don't do either, you can consider having your second cup of water.

Check your emails.

If you know you might have some important emails, it's great to check them in the morning. Did you know that the average person checks their email 15 times a day? That's mind-blowing!

Make your breakfast.

As you know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day so you can't miss it! If you don't like to have a big meal in the morning, you can try making some avocado toast or some toast with almond butter and sliced bananas with a side of fruit.

Pick out your clothes for the day.

Whether you work from home or not, you may more than likely leaving the house. Take out your outfit so you can be ready to slay the day.

All of these are not in order and you can feel free to do them in whatever order you like. I hope you all enjoy this post. Comment below how your morning routine is now. I would love to hear about the exciting things that you all incorporate into your morning routine.
